用 的 效標 。 那 就 是 ， 在 數百 種 研究 中 ， 自陳式 測驗 都 必須 以 臨床 的 觀察 和 判斷 為 效標 來 決定 其 優劣 。 至於 臨床 標準 是 什麼 ， 則 由於 臨床 訓練 或 理論 依據 的 不同 ， 其 本身 也 有 不同 。 想 對 「 抑鬱感 」 加以 定義 會 遇到 這樣 一 個 問題 ： 它 所 指稱 的 是 認知 心理學家 所 說 的 「 模糊 類別 」 ( fuzzy category __UNDEF__ ) ( __UNDEF__ Rosch __UNDEF__ , 1978 ) 。 抑鬱感 很 自然 地 與 正常 的 不 快樂 有 重疊 ， 所以 ， 有時 很 難 將 抑鬱感 與 嚴重 的 失望 （ 如 ， 沒 能 進入 職業 學校 ） 、 悲痛 （ 因此 在 臨床 上 有 與 此 正常 的 「 悲痛 」 相對的 「 不當 有的 悲痛 」 ） 、 老化 （及 隨之 出現 的 許多 必然 的 喪失 ） 以及 一些 正常 的 停滯期 等 正常 現象 區分開 。 臨床 診斷 者 的 目標 是 ： 希望 將 疾病 與 健康 區分開 ， 而 許多 社會 科學家 的 目標 是 希望 將 從 輕微 的 不滿 到 絕望 （ 有時 甚至 是 從 極度 樂觀 到 絕望 ） 的 連續 情感 進行 量化 。 雙方 由於 目標 的 不同 ， 不可 避免 地 導致 緊張 。 在 後面 的 量表 評述 中 我們 將 會 看到 ， 此 目標 之 不同 也 與 這 兩 個 學科 之 採用 不同 的 群體 作為 研究 對象 有關 。 臨床 研究 者 經常 將 情緒 抑鬱 病人 和 患有 其它 病症 的 病人 進行 比較 ， 這些 樣本 通常 比較 小 。 而 非 臨床 研究 者 則 傾向於 研究 由 大學生 和 非學生 的 成年人 所 組成 的 大 樣本 。 抑鬱感 也 很 難 與 不同於 悲傷 ( sadness __UNDEF__ ) 的 其它 類型 的 苦惱 ( distress ) 如 焦慮 、 厭煩 、 敵意 等 區分開 。 DSM -Ⅲ 中 提到 易躁性 ( irritability __UNDEF__ ) 和 「 心理 動作 的 激盪 」 就 表明 了 抑鬱 可能 有 憤怒 和 憂慮 的 成分 。 這 一 點 使得 抑鬱感 和 焦慮 的 測量 至少 存在 中度 相關 。 與 抑鬱 的 對立面 如 自尊 、 效能感 ( feelings __UNDEF__ of efficacy __UNDEF__ ) 以及 自賀歸因 ( self-congratulatory attribution __UNDEF__ ) 的 測量 則 存在 負相關 。 而 這些 相關 通常 被 解釋成 是 對 區辨 效度 的 威脅 。 不過 ， 只有 那些 相信 抑鬱感 是 一 個 完全 獨特 的 實體 的 人 ， 才 會 真的 認為 這些 相關 是 不 好 的 。 DSM-III 關於 抑鬱 的 定義 明確 地 指出 對 兒童 應該 以 稍微 不同於 成年人 的 標準 來 診斷 。 這 一 點 已經 導致 人們 編製 了 專門 用於 兒童 的 評價 工具 。 在 年齡 範圍 的 另 一 端 （ 老年 ） ， 同樣 嚴重 的 困難 卻 沒有 在 DSM-III 中 出現 。 如果 過分 強調 身體 徵候 的話 ， 年老 本身 可能 被 誤診為 抑鬱感 。 由 此 便 出現 了 專門 用於 老年人 的 抑鬱感 量表 。 將 抑鬱感 定義為 徵候群 （ 一 系列 同時 發生 、 互相 關聯 的 「 徵候 」 ） 確實 防止 了 一 個 重要 流弊 的 出現 ， 即 因果 關係 的 混淆 。 在 後面 的 討論 中 將 會 看到 ， 研究 孤寂 的 人 在 他們 定義 孤寂 時 ， 經常 含有 對 原因 的 假定 （ 例如 ， 認為 孤寂感 是 「 對於 與 別人 缺乏 充分 溝通 的 反應 」 ， 或是 「 對於 缺乏 親密 關係 的 反應 」 等 ） ， 因而 製造 了 許多 問題 。 在 抑鬱 研究 方面 ， 就 比較 沒有 這 一 問題 。 因為 持有 不同 理論 取向 的 臨床 醫生 和 抑鬱感 研究 者 經過 數十 年 的 努力 已 達成 了 一 個 非理論性 的 定義 ， 亦即 DSM-III 標準 本身 就 不 涉及 病因學 ( etiology __UNDEF__ ) 的 內容 。 這 兩 種 觀點 都 得到 研究 的 支持 ， 但 至今 還 沒有 一 個 將 這 兩 種 觀點 結合 在一起 ， 而 又 得到 廣泛 接納 的 理論 。 時差 的 大小 可能 是 研究 者 決定 究竟 是 要 研究 變化 或 還是 研究 適應 的 關鍵 所在 。 不過 這 個 想法 還 有待 進一步 檢驗 。 我們 當然 知道 ， 想要 在 短期 內 解決 這麼多 複雜 的 問題 是 不 現實 的 。 但 既然 已 有 了 本 章 所 提到 的 這麼多 良好 的 主觀 幸福感 測量 ， 也 難怪 我們 希望 早一點 見到 這些 測量 與 大量 重要 的 社會 目標 及 福祉 連繫 起來 。 譯 後 評述 西方 心理學家 在 研究 主觀 幸福感 的 時候 ， 強調 分辨 直接 的 幸福 或 快樂 感受 （ 可以 用 一 個 評尺 ， 由 受測 者 按 感覺 來 評定 ） ， 或 間接 地 評定 引致 有 幸福 或 快樂感 的 原因 。 例如 滿足感 ， 他們 認為 一 個 人 即使 認為 自己 什麼 都 有 了 ， 想要 的 都 得到 了 ， 這 只是 在 認知 層次 的 幸福 因素 ， 但 這 一 個 人 還是 有 可能 在 直接 感覺 上 感到 不 快樂 、 不 幸福 。 這 種 對 幸福感 的 探討 是 與 西方 心理學 一慣 喜歡 將 認知 及 情感 看為 二元 的 思路 相 一致 。 中國人 對 幸福感 到底 怎麼 看 ？ 要 怎麼樣 去 研究 ？ 是 在 應用 這些 量表 之餘 大家 應該 進一步 思考 的 問題 。 參考 書目 Abbey , A .& Andrews , F.M .
